Reading a Photograph I

Globe and Grate

Looking at art improves our critical thinking skills. For those of you under 20, educators used to be big on talking about “critical thinking.” Look at the above photo. Why did the photographer (I) take this shot? What is it about? Is it the color? Obviously not. Is it the shape? Maybe. Is it juxtaposition? Maybe.

Those of you who said it’s the juxtaposition of two round things, the globe and the grate, have just won a ticket to the next level. Wait for it.
